About Dr. D. M. Hardy

Dr. Hardy is an Instructional Designer, Web Developer, Small Business Owner, and a Life-Long Learner.

She began developing websites in 1998, using Geocities and multiple tutorials that abounded at the time. Back then, there were no WYSIWYG editors available for web development, at least none that a college student could afford. So she learned the old-fashioned way, by writing code by hand.

In the fall of 2001, she was hired to be the website developer/administrator for a local two-year college. During this time, she continued with self-directed education. She read online articles, forums, and of course, books. She found the CIW certificates, pursued the CIW Associates certification, and passed in the early winter of 2004. She continued and quickly followed the first exam with a second to receive the CIW Professional certification in the following spring.

Since 2001 she has pursued more than certificates in web development. She has taken many additional college courses and attended multiple conferences (additional information is available at https://about.dmhardy.design). Web development is one of those fields where you can never stop learning because the field is in a constant state of innovative flux.

In December of 2008, she completed a Masters in Instructional Technology from Valdosta State University. In 2013 she returned to Valdosta State University to pursue her doctoral degree and graduated with a Doctorate in Adult & Career Education in May of 2019.

In September 2020, she received a new position as an Instructional Designer for the Department of Online/Distance Learning at the local university (the two-year college had been consolidated into the university in 2017).
